Congratulations to the 2022 WSC Employee Owner of the Year, Wright Service Corp. Business Systems Administrator II Sarah McFadden!
The award serves as recognition for an employee within the WSC family of companies who is an outstanding citizen, exhibits the characteristics of an employee owner and the values of our company, and makes contributions in the best interest of the company.
The Employee Ownership Committee went through all the nominations and selected six nominees to move forward through the judging process. A judging panel consisting of management across companies ultimately selected Sarah to be named this year’s Employee Owner of the Year.
Payroll and Billing Manager Alison West surprised Sarah with the news and awarded her with a framed certificate.
Sarah has been with Wright Service Corp for four years, residing in West Des Moines, IA.
She is currently the co-chair of the Employee Ownership Committee, and carries out our mission, “To contribute to the success of our family of companies by advancing and strengthening our culture of ownership through education and communication.” The Committee has grown to 20 members and has been restructured to develop sub-committees to further strive to meet our goals of outreach and engagement. Members are from our various family companies to gain feedback on ways to improve participation in activities and further expand awareness and knowledge of what it truly means to be an employee owner.
In addition, Sarah has developed a Central Iowa Networking Committee which consists of other employee-owned businesses in the area to build a community where all employee-owned companies can get together to network and share ideas outside of conferences.
One of Sarah’s nominators wrote, “Sarah’s passion for the success of WSC is astonishing and what drives Sarah to provide quality work. She is always willing to drop what she is doing to provide help or training to anyone that needs it. Sarah is a reliable and trustworthy person and is all about taking the initiative to make sure the job gets done and the Wright way. It has been such a pleasure to see her professional growth throughout her time at WSC. She really has been a crucial part of the Field Data Solution Project and of course, the payroll team, and her commitment to her role has been exceptional. She is a true inspiration. Her passion for wanting things done right raises her above most. Sarah doesn’t just go through the motions of executing a process, she learns what she is doing, why she is doing it in a certain manner, and the cause and effect of what she is doing. This allows her to fully understand the total concept and consequences of her actions which, in turn, allows her to look for ways to improve the activity. I have worked directly with Sarah at making tasks less manual and more time efficient and her insight is invaluable. Again, her PASSION is a key element in enabling Sarah to excel and be admired by many as an expert in her field. Yet, she is humble enough to inquire and research when she hasn’t mastered a concept and is always hungry to learn more, gain additional insight, and collaborate in achieving the highest possible level of proficiency.”
Congratulations again, Sarah! This award is well-deserved.
As this year’s winner, Sarah will receive a special invitation to the Annual Awards Banquet, receive a $500 check, an engraved award, and recognition in the WSC newsletter and website. Nominations for the next Employee Owner of the Year will open in September 2023. For more information, visit wrightservicecorp.com/employee-owner-of-the-year.
